1:50 – 2:10 ~ The Creation of a Multifunctional Staff Room
A typical day for a PACU Nurse is busy. In our PACU there is a lot of noise and activity, which requires special nursing skills while working with many different contacts during the shift. We created a staff break room to support peace of mind, reduce stress, improve the nurses’ working environment and students’ learning atmosphere, and increase patient safety. A real energy booster!!!

2:10 – 2:30 ~ Pediatric Sleep Apnea and Risks in the Perianaesthesia Period
Sleep disordered breathing, increasingly encountered in children, can increase the risk for postanaesthetic complications. Two tools were evaluated to identify the potential for obstructive sleep apnea and disordered sleep breathing in children. This presentation will describe how our pediatric PACU now uses one assessment tool preoperatively to identify respiratory risk factors for all patients to improve postoperative outcomes.
