The 2017 conference was held in Sydney's Luna Park, hosted by the Australian College of PeriAnaesthesia Nurses (ACPAN), Approximately 400 delegates traveled from 14 countries to participate in ICPAN's 4th Biennial Conference., the first global gathering held in the Southern Hemisphere..
This conference complimented ACPAN’s impressive transition to a College in July 2016., and included the graduation of ACPAN Fellows during its Opening Ceremony. Overall,. ICPAN 2017 provided social events, specialized preconference workshops, local hospital visits, a delegate networking forum, and numerous sessions aimed to broaden professional knowledge and skills.. Contemporary anaesthesia practice and nursing initiatives were presented by expert practitioners who enthusiastically shared poster presentations, new research findings, quality improvement initiatives, innovative clinical practice,s and important nursing advocacy skills. ICPAN 2017 also welcomed colleagues from the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA), Lifebox Foundation, and the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) to promote nursing's participation in the advancement of strategic team based collaboration aimed to expand safe surgery initiatives in resource poor nations.
